Handbook for the Preparation of Voluntary National Reviews
Reviewing progress on the SDGs
This handbook helps countries prepare their Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) which aim to facilitate the sharing of successes, challenges and lessons learned in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. It provides practical information on the steps that countries may take when preparing a VNR, from communicating the intention, to organizing and preparing the review – including its key building blocks and related preparatory workshops – to presenting at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF). The handbook should be read in conjunction with the Secretary-General’s proposal for voluntary common reporting guidelines for VNRs at the HLPF.
